Causa Finita at the Shopping Center Forum discussing about the REITs

22-03-2017

Soon, many REITs competing for the same capital will mark their debut on stock exchange in Poland. During the SCF 2017, I would like to draw attention to some of the subtleties of this type of companies - says Robert Szczepanek, legal counsel.

The thematic block of the Shopping Center Forum 2017 Spring Edition entitled "REITs as a tool for market development," will feature discussions on the most important aspects of the law on REITs, which probably will come into force soon.

The thematic block includes the presentation entitled "REIT - a large injection of capital in the real estate market" of SCE's substantive partner, Deloitte company and a discussion panel with experts - Marcin Juszczyk, Member of the Management Board, Capital Park, Aleksander Kot, Tax Department Director, Deloitte and Robert Szczepanek, Legal Counsel, Causa Finita Law Firm

- Upon the emergence of REITs in the US in the 60s of the last century, stock market investors had doubts whether the REIT is an investment in stocks or real estate.  Only after some time REITs have become a separate investment category.  Currently, they have their own stock eachange indices and according to studies their shares represent approximately 20 percent of portfolio of every self-respecting investor - says Robert Szczepanek.

And he adds: - When the Polish Act on REIT enters into force, and there is no doubt that it will be soon, many REITs competing for the same capital will mark their debut on stock exchange.  During the SCF I would like to share my experience regarding principles of conducting REITs in the US.  I would like to draw attention to some of the subtleties of this type of companies in such areas as for example development strategy, debt policy and commercialization.  These and many other issues specific to REITs, will have a substantial impact on the perception of REITs by stock exchange investors, and consequently on the liquidity and share price, as well as  stable appreciation of assets of such companies.

The block about REITs will be conducted by Tomasz Zganiacz, Senior Business Executive.
